Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This is our fourth title in our highly-praised Our Wild World: Ecosystems series. Once again, author/ photographer Wayne Lynch takes readers on a personal journey through a treasured North American ecosystem. Amazing photography, first-person anecdotes, and tons of factual information on the animals, plants, climate and landscape come together to give a complete picture of the ecosystem in action. Subjects cover the wide diversity of living things in this habitat from strangler fig trees and bromeliad plants to armadillos and dozens of water birds. And of course gators! These gorgeous books are a feast for both the eyes and mind.

Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars Beautifully illustrated with full-color photography throughout   September 7, 2007
Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA)
Beautifully illustrated with full-color photography throughout, The Everglades introduces young readers to the treasures of the Everglades ecosystem, from its alligators to its rare flowers, reptilian and amphibian inhabitants shaded green or brown, bears, raccoons, panthers, and much more. Fun facts abound in this picturebook: "Raccoons have a better sense of touch in their front paws than any other meat-eating animal. They use their sensitive paws to search for crabs, crayfish, clams, frogs, and snails in shallow water. When early settlers saw the animals splashing on the edge of marshes they wrongly thought they were washing their food." Highly recommended for children's collections in both school and public libraries.
